VOL. 4: CBD

SEPTEMBER 2020

Just in time for harvest: this is the perfect musical backdrop for the season. This mix of laid back Americana music is a blend of folk, blues, and old-school country — good music for your front porch or your garden. This harvest season we’ll be playing Volume 4 on repeat at the SPARC farm in the heart of Sonoma Valley. Be sure to listen to curator Eric Long’s song, “Sonoma“—about love and farming in Sonoma County—which reminds us:

Life wasn’t always easy on the farm / Then again life ain’t easy nowhere else / But then again life can be simple / When you’re doin’ what you love with someone else

Eric Long, is a San Francisco singer-songwriter. His music is fundamentally folk and timelessly steeped in some of America’s earliest musical roots playing. His songwriting carries a remarkable knack for simplicity. NPR has touted his voice as carrying a “…timeless timbre that sounds well-traveled, self-reflective and pure.” Eric has established himself as s a rising songwriter in the Northern California Folk scene and released his record “Looking Up” in March of 2020. SPARC Sounds Volume 3: Hybrid album cover

VOL. 3: HYBRID

AUGUST 2020

While you can’t physically travel to the French Riviera and the Mediterranean coast this Summer, this volume can at least teleport you there in your mind. It’s perfect for Summer: upbeat and fun, yet relaxing. It’s great for the pool or the beach, or for hanging out with friends in the park. And it includes the very latest Vandelux track, “New to Love”, made specifically with SPARC Sounds in mind.

Vandelux (Evan White) is a Vancouver-born, San Francisco-based multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. He produces out of a closet-sized studio in SF. His 2017 hit single, “Bright Lights“, first put him on the radar — and his 2018 collaboration with Jurassic 5’s Marc 7 for their electro-hip-hop album, “Futureproof“, showcased his musical creativity and versatility. He produces his own series of independent singles that spans several genres, including retro-pop, deep house, and rock.

VOL 2: INDICA

AUGUST 2020

It’s important to step back from the everyday madness to relax, unwind, and destress. SPARC Sounds Volume 2, Indica, makes that possible. With its mix of chilled hip-hop, mellow R&B, and future pop, it’s the perfect soundtrack for some late night smoking.

Caroline Kerr (aka Deejay CK) is a San Francisco-based radio and vinyl DJ, music industry professional, and boutique business owner. With roots in music procurement and supervision for all media, she programmed music for Starbucks stores worldwide and several other restaurants and events. Currently, she oversees special projects for two of Superfly’s co-founders, better known as the creators of Bonnaroo, Clusterfest, and Outside Lands. At the core of her taste-making is a deep loyalty to emerging artists — a community she’s continued to spotlight since helping introduce Sofar Sounds to Chicago in 2014. On the flip side, she’s worked on major campaigns with Lady Gaga, Chance The Rapper, Leon Bridges, and others. Be sure to catch her show MUSIC PLEASE on bff.fm every Friday night from 10-12 PT.

SPARC Sounds Volume 1: Sativa album cover

VOL. 1: SATIVA

AUGUST 2020

SPARC’s debut album, Sativa, is the anecdote to these crazy times. Musically, it’s playful and emotive, and it oozes with optimism and joy. There are beats that make you wanna sweat on the dance floor, a thumpin’ bass that might inspire some love making, synths and guitars that cut through to your core, and vocals that reminds us what it’s like to be human. Music is a universal language, and that language will always have a past and will always have a future.

“This a collection of just some of the music that inspires me as well as music I made as a result of that inspiration. These tracks bring me joy, and I hope they can do the same for you. And I encourage you to take that joy and do some good with it!”

Otis McDonald is a producer / multi-instrumentalist based in San Francisco, CA. From his mind and ears comes a sound that is fresh, but tangibly rooted in nostalgia. As you listen to his music, you hear the soul of the 60s or the funk of the 70s — or perhaps it’s pop radio from the 80s or the boom-bap-beats of the early-to-mid 90s. Whatever it may be, Otis has the sound of an artist who manifests a lesson in versatility and growing perspective. Learn more at otismacmusic.com.
